In this example, we will create a jump link to a specific subheading within a page but it's located in another handbook. Please note that if you want to simply link to an entire handbook or just a whole page, this can easily be done through our linking window already.
If you only need to link within the same handbook, please see the below article instead:
Part One: Creating the Anchor in the Separate Handbook
Step 1: First open up the handbook that has the text you wish you jump to. Within the editor, navigate to the desired page and highlight the text it should link to.
In this example, we want to specifically link to the "Who This Applies To" paragraph that's located within the separate policy book. The subheading for this paragraph has been highlighted.
Step 2: In the pop-up toolbar, click on the "Anchor" ribbon icon to insert the anchor.
Step 3: The anchor pop-up window will appear for you to type a unique/memorable ID tag for this specific anchor. (This is case-sensitive and no spaces are allowed.) Please make a note of this ID as it'll be needed later.
In this example, we will be creating an anchor called "who_this_applies_to" to match the subheading we wanted to link to.
Step 4: Click "OK" to save the changes.
Step 5: Voila! You will notice a little anchor icon has appeared beside the text. Your anchor is now ready to be linked to.
Step 6: Ensure this handbook is published in order for the unique URL to be created and for the jump link to correctly work.
Part Two: Finding the Unique Handbook URL
Step 1: Since this handbook has been published, you'll need its URL to insert. Go back to your admin dashboard and hover over the handbook tile. Click the icon in the top left corner of the tile.
Step 2: You can copy the published version's URL directly from here.
Part Three: Linking to the Anchor from the Other Handbook
Step 1: Now that the URL is copied, you can locate the other handbook. Locate and highlight the text you want to link out.
In this example, we will be linking out the text that says, "Learn who this policy applies to here."
Step 2: In the pop-up toolbar, click on the "Insert/Edit link" paperclip icon.
Step 3: The anchor linking pop-up will appear displaying a field box to insert a URL. Paste the handbook URL you just copied in here. The next step is important.
Step 4: At the end of this URL, add a hashtag # followed by the exact anchor ID tag you just created.
In this example, the full URL would be "https://books.airmason.com/airmason8/airmason_policy_book/#who_this_applies_to".
Step 5: Next, you can choose the target window option.
We strongly recommend leaving this to "New Window" to ensure viewers don't lose their current location.
Step 6: Click "Apply" to save changes.
