Guide to Global Themes

Getting started with Global Themes

AirMasons' master styling tool gives you a faster, more flexible way to design your documents. Think of it as the "overview theme" of your document, where it's most useful to mass-apply edits and changes across your whole document with ease. Whereas "Page Style" can target and style specific pages individually by overriding.

To open up the "Global Themes" panel, click the second icon to the right side of the screen.

The Global Themes panel is broken down into the following below groups. (A detailed guide for each can be found in this article.)

  1. Generate: AirMason's AI will pull in your website's colors and fonts

  2. Fonts: Apply fonts, set style and formatting options

  3. Colors: Apply text color, save a color palette, and other color options

  4. Add Images: Upload photos and images into your media library

  5. Other Settings: Access more customization options, such as the Table of Contents menu

  6. Page Patterns: Automatically alternate backgrounds and text colors throughout your document

Generating your company's branding via website URL

1. In the Global Themes pop-up window, simply enter your company URL and click "Generate".

This will let AirMason's AI pull in your colors and fonts based on the website homepage.

2. Review the findings and make any needed adjustments in this panel. You can always come back to edit any settings.

A detailed guide for each bucket can be found in this article. Please note results may vary, especially with fonts, as paid licensed fonts will be flagged and not pulled automatically.

3. Clicking "Apply theme" will always update the document with the new changes and override any previous settings.

This will close the Global Themes window and you will see the master theme applied throughout your document.

Global Themes: Fonts

1. In the Global Themes window, click on "Fonts" to open up a list of available typography options.

2. Here you can customize three buckets of typography: headers, sub-headers and body text.

Within each, you can even set more multiple style cases and get more detailed with design when it comes to your document.

Tip: "Header 1" is the default page title's style setting.

3. Starting with "Header 1", click on the first dropdown to display a list of available free fonts to use.

Alternatively, you can also upload your custom font or integrate your Adobe fonts account.

4. After you apply the font, you can pick the specific style next, or change the font size. Click "more" to see more customization options.

5. Clicking "more" will reveal more customizability options, such as text alignment, various spacings, and text decorations.

You can edit line-height spacing, letter spacing, opacity, text alignment, text case, text decoration, and paragraph spacing.

6. Feel free to repeat these steps for any other style formats needed. When you are finished, click "Done" to save your progress. (You will have to click "Apply theme changes" next for your settings to update.)

7. You will now see the master settings applied throughout your document.

Global Themes: Colors

1. In the Global Themes window, click on "Colors" to open up a list of available color palette options.

2. Under "Text", here you can set the colors for the three buckets of typography: headers, sub-headers and body text.

Click on a field to input a HEX value code or use the color tool. Feel free to repeat this steps for any other style formats needed.

3. Under "Brand colors", here is where you can save/store a general overview of your brand color palette.

A reference library is useful to apply to text, backgrounds, links, etc. Clicking on the + icon will add more color values. If you wish to alternate page background colors and text, you can jump to our "Manage page patterns" section.

4. Under "Other Colors", here are more customizability options, such as links and bullet point colors.

Tip: "Read More" are the CTA button links from our collapsible section template.

5. When you are finished, click "Done" to save your progress. (You will have to click "Apply theme changes" next for your settings to update.)

Global Themes: Add Images

Please note you can either upload assets in two ways: by uploading into our Global Themes panel or media library panel (triggered by inserting an image/photo or uploading a background image).

1. In the Global Themes window, click on "Add Images" to open up a sneak peek of your media library.

2. Here you can upload photos/images or view your current media library.

Please note you can only upload files through this method. This will automatically save in your media library. (Uploading through our media library panel has a few more flexible options.)

3. When you are finished, you can go back by clicking "< Your Images" at the top-left corner or X to close out the window.

Global Themes: Other Settings

1. In the Global Themes window, click on "Other Settings" to open up even more customization options for your document.

2. Under "Table of Contents", here you can set the colors for the menu.

To access the Table of Contents, click the top-left "Menu" icon in the editor. The most popular color cases are section dividers, page titles, and highlight color for the current page. When there are jump/anchor links inside a document, the menu can be further expanded by displaying headers and sub-headers.

3. Under "Footer Settings", you can turn on page titles, numbers, or adjust their colors. Under "Other Settings", you can access other miscellaneous master settings of your document.

"Page arrows" are useful for document navigation, as they help jump viewers to the next section and are automatically turned on.

4. When you are finished, click "Done" to save your progress. (You will have to click "Apply theme changes" next for your settings to update.)

Global Themes: Page Patterns

Use page patterns to set and alternate backgrounds and text colours throughout; perfect for adding and maintaining consistency to longer documents, without the hassle.

Note: If you add or remove pages, you may need to re-apply this setting.

1. In the Global Themes window, click on "Page Patterns" to open color sets based on your color palette.

2. Here you can create "color sets", that will automatically alternate its page background color and text color. Add as many as needed by clicking "+ Another Set".

Please note the changes will update in real-time as a preview reference, but no changes will be officially saved until you click "Apply".

3. You can easily remove any color sets, as well as re-order them.

4. When your sets are previewed and finalized, click "Apply" to automatically alternate the color sequence. This action cannot be undone and will only be applied once.

Note: If you add or remove pages, you may need to re-apply this setting.

5. You will now see the Page Patterns applied throughout your document.

Tip: Pages with background images already applied are skipped in the sequence and not overwritten.
