Overview
To connect Paychex to AirMason, our integrations team needs an API Key and Client Secret that you create directly in your Paychex account. This guide walks you through generating those credentials and sending them to us so we can set up the connection for you.
Before you start, you'll need:
Admin permissions in your company's Paychex account (Super Admin or Security Admin), and to know who your AirMason contact is in case you have questions along the way.
Step 1: Generate your API Key and Client Secret
1. Log in to Paychex and go to Company Settings.
2. Select Integrated Apps.
3. Click Create App.
4. Enter an Application Name (we recommend "AirMason") and a short Description.
5. Under the Company and Worker APIs, select Read only. You can leave the Payroll and check APIs switched off – AirMason only needs company and worker data.
6. Review and accept the Legal Notice and the Paychex API License Agreement, then click Save.
7. Paychex will display your API Key and Client Secret. Copy both and keep them somewhere safe. You'll need them in the next step.
Step 2: Send your credentials to AirMason
Email your API Key and Client Secret to integrations@airmason.com. Please include your company name and the name of the person who set up the app in Paychex.
Our integrations team will configure the connection and confirm access on our side.
Once the connection is live, we'll let you know and your Paychex employee data will begin syncing to AirMason.
Notes and special cases
Linking multiple companies: If you manage a parent account with several child companies, a Super Admin or Security Admin can create the app in the parent account, manage company access settings, and enable access in each child company before sending the credentials to us. Let us know which companies should be included when you email.
