Preview vs. Published Links: How to Get Your Handbook's Preview Link

Learn the difference between a handbook's preview and published links, three ways to grab the preview link, and why your changes might not be showing up yet.

Every handbook on AirMason has two links: a preview link and a published link. They show different things, so it helps to know which one you're sharing. This article explains the difference, shows you three ways to grab your preview link, and answers the most common question we get about them.

Preview vs. published links

Preview links display the current state of your document, think of it like a "draft". This is especially useful if the document is still being edited or is in progress. Sending someone a preview link does not require them to sign in to AirMason, and you can continue making edits until you're ready to publish.

Published links display the last published version of your document, think of it as the current "live version". This is the link your employees use, and it's the one that shows page animations, effects and transitions. When you publish, you'll be prompted to choose whether or not to notify employees of the changes. See How to publish a handbook for the full walkthrough.

Important: Any edits made to the handbook will only appear on the published link once the handbook is published.

How to get the preview link — Method A (admin dashboard)

1. From the admin dashboard, click the three dots in the top-right corner of the handbook tile.

2. Click "Preview editor".

3. Copy the URL from the address bar of this page. That's your preview link.

Method B (editor menu)

1. From inside the AirMason editor, click the three lines in the top-left corner, then select "Preview".

2. Copy the URL from the address bar of this page.

Method C (Publish dropdown)

1. From inside the AirMason editor, click the arrow beside the "Publish" button to open the dropdown.

2. Select "Preview Draft".

3. Copy the URL from the address bar of this page.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my handbook changes not appearing?

This is a commonly asked question. The preview link shows your latest edits (the "draft"), while the published link only shows the last published version. The two links will be different, so if your changes aren't showing up for employees, publish the handbook and they'll take effect. See How to publish a handbook.

Which link should I send to employees?

Send the published link. It's the live version, it respects your handbook's security settings, and it tracks activity like read receipts and signatures. Use the preview link only when you want someone (for example a colleague or reviewer) to see work in progress before it's published.

Can people see my preview link without logging in?

Yes. A preview link doesn't require an AirMason sign-in, so be mindful about who you share it with. Anyone with the link can view the current draft.
