Uploading documents in AirMason just got a lot more flexible! You can now upload files directly in their original format, use a much wider range of file types, and take advantage of a smarter conversion flow that puts you in control. Whether you want to share a file in minutes or turn it into a fully editable AirMason document, you're covered.
How the new upload flow works
When you upload a document in a format we can convert — PDF, Word (.doc, .docx), plain text (.txt), or PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx) — you'll be asked whether you'd like to convert it into an AirMason document or upload it directly in its original file type. Here's the difference:
Upload directly
Your file is ready on your dashboard within a few minutes and can be shared with employees right away through the Access menu. On the employee side, it looks just like any other document. Keep in mind: files kept in their original format can't be edited inside AirMason.
Convert anytime
Prefer to edit in AirMason? No problem. At any point, open a direct upload and click Convert — AirMason creates an editable duplicate in AirMason format, while keeping your original intact. Conversion typically takes 24–72 hours depending on the document type.
Ready to get started? Follow the steps below to upload, organize, and manage your files so your team always has what they need.
Step 1: Start a new upload
Head to your Admin Dashboard and click the + New button to kick off a new upload.
Step 2: Choose your file
Select the file you'd like to upload. AirMason supports a wide range of file types — see the full breakdown at the bottom of this article. If your file is a PDF, Word, .txt, or PowerPoint, you'll get the option to convert it or keep it in its original format.
Step 3: Name your document
Give it a clear, descriptive name so it's easy to find later.
Step 4: Choose a folder
Pick the folder where this document should live to keep your workspace nice and tidy.
Step 5: Confirm the upload
Click Confirm to finish. Direct uploads are ready in just a few minutes — if you're converting to an AirMason file, give it 24–72 hours depending on the document type.
Step 6: Convert or host the file
Decide whether to convert the document into an AirMason file or host the original (for example, as a PDF). Converting lets you edit it directly in AirMason; hosting keeps the file exactly as-is, though it won't be editable.
Step 7: Review the upload date
If you host the original file, you'll see its upload date right on the document. You can always convert it later if you decide you'd like to edit it in AirMason.
Step 8: Assign employee access
Click the Access button to choose who can view or use the document.
Step 9: Edit the document (optional)
Want to make edits inside AirMason? Click Convert. Your document will upload, convert, and be ready to edit just like any standard AirMason file.
What file types can I upload?
Convert to an editable AirMason document
These file types can be converted into a fully editable AirMason document: PDF, Word (.doc, .docx), plain text (.txt), and PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx).
